SPRING 2006 MEDIATION TRAINING

Kenneth Cloke will conduct a Mediation Certification Training Program for anyone interested in becoming a Mediator or improving their skills in conflict resolution. The training will consist of the following elements:

Feb 11 Overview of historical, legal, social, systemic, psychological and spiritual aspects of conflict and approaches to resolution. Includes communication skills, story-telling, listening techniques, and an eight step mediation process.

Feb 25 Responding to intense emotions, techniques for handling anger, fear, grief and shame, responding to bullying, collaboratively negotiating agreements, caucusing, addressing cross-cultural conflicts, and ethical issues.

March 11 Overcoming impasse, correcting power imbalances, reducing resistance to settlement, and writing agreements. Special issues regarding organizational, workplace, divorce, family, neighborhood, and litigated mediations.

March 25 Conflict resolution systems design, how to establish a practice and market mediation services, resolving complex multi-party, environmental and public policy disputes, designing rituals, reaching closure, creating heartfelt conversations and helping people reach forgiveness and reconciliation.
